The Jennie Project

Dr. Hugo Archibald, a physician, frequently brings home a variety of exotic animals. His latest addition is a chimpanzee named Jennie. Due to Dr. Archibald’s frequent absences, his son Andrew feels neglected, while his wife Lea disapproves of Jennie, considering her a source of trouble. However, the children quickly grow fond of Jennie, who is remarkable for her ability to learn and comprehend sign language. Jennie becomes an integral part of the Archibald family, forming a strong bond with Andrew, who shares his interests in baseball and comic books with her. She also provides support to Andrew during conflicts with his father. Dr. Pamela Prentiss begins working with Jennie, but she disagrees with the family’s approach to Jennie’s care and comes across as impolite. Although Dr. Prentiss’s method of teaching sign language confuses Jennie, Lea discovers a more effective way to communicate with her.
