Harry And Snowman
After World War II, Dutch immigrant Harry deLeyer moved to the United States and formed a life-changing bond with an old Amish plow horse he saved from a slaughter truck destined for the glue factory. Harry bought the horse for eighty dollars and named him Snowman. In under two years, the pair achieved remarkable success by winning the show jumping triple crown, defeating the nation’s elite competitors. Their unexpected encounter at a Pennsylvania horse auction not only saved them both but also forged a lifelong friendship. Now 86, Harry shares their Cinderella-like story, as he remains active in training on the modern show jumping circuit.
