Drown
Len, a celebrated Surf Lifesaving champion and a revered figure in his surf club like his father before him, finds his status threatened by the arrival of Phil, a younger and more agile competitor. Len’s perception of Phil shifts dramatically when he discovers Phil is gay. After the club’s annual awards dinner, Len confronts Phil in the locker room and assaults him. Surprisingly, Phil chooses not to report Len for the attack. Phil’s victory in the annual Surf Lifesaving competition marks Len’s ultimate defeat. Seeking revenge, Len intoxicates Phil and subjects him to degrading treatment. However, this malicious act forces Len to confront a profound question: can he come to terms with his own sexuality?
