Le métis de Dieu
“The Jewish Cardinal” recounts the remarkable true story of Jean-Marie Lustiger, the offspring of Polish-Jewish immigrants, who preserved his Jewish cultural roots even after converting to Catholicism in his youth and subsequently becoming a priest. Rapidly advancing within the Church hierarchy, Lustiger was named the Archbishop of Paris by Pope John Paul II, providing him with a unique opportunity to embrace his dual identity as a Catholic Jew. This duality garnered him both allies and adversaries from both communities. When Carmelite nuns decide to establish a convent within the infamous confines of Auschwitz, Lustiger is thrust into the role of mediator between the two groups, potentially compelling him to finally choose a side.
