Twisted Justice
Inspired by one of the most notorious scandals in Japanese police history, Kazuya Shiraishi has crafted an expansive and dark crime saga that echoes the finest yakuza films by Kinji Fukasaku, such as Cops vs. Thugs. Set in 1970s Hokkaido, the story follows Detective Moroboshi (played by Go Ayano) as he spirals into moral corruption over thirty years. Though young, Moroboshi is already tough and willing to bend the rules, quickly becoming too familiar with the criminal underworld under the guidance of his seasoned partner, Murai (Pierre Taki). Before long, he prowls the streets of Sapporo as a ruthless, sex-obsessed enforcer, barely distinguishable from the yakuza. Twisted Justice burns with the intensity of classic hard-boiled tales, stripping away the genre’s usual polish and macho bravado.
